Firewood and Safety

Firewood is available for free to all members and renters for use inside the park.

Please burn firewood responsibly and do not leave fires unattended.

Firewood can be obtained between the dog park and the compost area in the southeast corner of the Park. Firewood is regularly split by volunteers using the Park’s log splitter. Please participate in the log-splitting process if you intend to use firewood.

If you have a portable smokeless fire pit, sometimes shorter logs have been split into a separate pile or you may obtain wood chips from the compost area when available.

⚠ CAUTION:

  • Check the Announcement Board by the Gatehouse or the MN DNR for the latest in Fire Danger & Burning Restrictions.
  • Firewood is intended for personal use inside the Park ONLY. According to the MN Department of Agriculture, moving uncertified hardwood firewood outside of a regulated area is illegal and is punishable up to a $7,500 fine per violation per day.
  • Do NOT attempt to use the log splitter without proper training or supervision, and permission.
